The rules for a same-sex marriage are identical to the rules for any wedding.

If the couple previously had a civil union, the civil union does not have to be dissolved in order to marry.

If any of the parties to the same-sex marriage were married previously, that partner has to have a legal divorce.

I have happily wed over 500 same-sex couples.

It is my honor and delight!!

This is just two samples of the many same-sex marriage ceremonies my couples choose from, each is customized to the couple adding songs, poems, readings, stories about their lives.

Sample Same-sex Marriage Ceremony 1

Wedding Ceremony

Of

Groom 1 & Groom 2

 Welcome

I am privileged to perform this marriage ceremony today to celebrate the love you have discovered in each other.  This is the union of two individuals in heart, body, mind, and spirit.  Therefore, this marriage is not to be entered into lightly, but reverently, honestly, and deliberately.  And it is into this marriage that Groom2 and Groom1 come now to be joined.

You have made the decision to confirm and solemnize the commitment which has sustained you for the past ## years and which you now vow unto one another for the rest of your lives.

It is one of life’s richest surprises when the accidental meeting of two life paths leads them to proceed together along the common path of a couple, and it is one of life’s finest experiences when a casual relationship grows into a permanent bond of love. This meeting and this growth bring us together, here, today.

 Blessing

As we stand in this garden, may your love always be as constant and unchanging as these never-ending blossoms that bloom around us. Your love came softly upon each others hearts, just as these flowers open softly to the sun, and just as we wish there will never be a morning without the sunshine, may there never be a day without your love for each other.

Advice

Pledge yourselves to each other this day and promise to be as faithful, unchanging and dependable as the seasons that visit this garden. Just as the rain nourishes the earth and sustains life, may your constant love nourish and sustain each other until the end of time.

Love

Love can be one of the most meaningful experiences that comes to any human being. At its best it reduces our selfishness, deepens our understandings, and gives value to life, far beyond what words can describe.

The institution of marriage is a public recognition of the private experience of love and a dedication of love’s greatest purposes in life. Two people in love live within the embrace of all humanity. The greatest intimacy between two people in love need not diminish, but can strengthen the individuality of each partner.

 Pronouncement

Inasmuch as Groom2 and Groom1 have declared their love to each other in this beautiful garden setting, in accordance with the law of Connecticut and by virtue of the authority vested in me by the law of Connecticut,

I now pronounce you

Legally Married

Congratulations, you may kiss.
